Cheesy scones!!!


Cheese scones! Something savoury and cheesy for breakfast or mid afternoon snack. Give them a try! They’ll be on your table within 30 minutes!


Makes 6-8 scones

INGREDIENTS:


*225g self raising flour

*60g butter, cold from the fridge

*150g cheddar,grated

*1tsp baking powder

*80-100ml milk

*1 egg

*1tsp whole grain mustard


METHOD:


•Mix your flour and baking powder together with a little pinch of salt

•Cut the butter into cubes and rub together with your fingers into the flour until it looks like very fine breadcrumbs

•Add your mustard and do the same

•Then add your 120g of your cheese to this mix

•Now add your milk, gradually until it forms a soft dough

•Flour a work surface and tip the dough on to it

•Work the dough into a ball, but be careful not to work the dough too much otherwise your scones won’t rise as well or be so fluffy

•Pat the mixture down until it’s about an inch in height, and using a cutter or glass cut your dough and place on a floured tray

•Beat the egg and brush the top of the scones with it

•Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top

•Cook in a preheated oven around 180 for 15-20 minutes

Enjoy hot with lots of butter 😋
